Job Title: PSHE and Careers Teacher/Instructor

Location: The Grange Therapeutic School, Oakham, Leicestershire

Salary: Up to £35,000.00 per annum (dependant on experience and qualifications)

Hours: 39.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday,

Rota: Monday to Thursday: 8.30am – 4.30pm, Friday: 8.30am – 4.00pm

Contract: Permanent, term-time only

Applicants must be UK based.

We're looking for an experienced PSHE and Careers Teacher/Instructor to join The Grange Therapeutic School.

About the Role

You will need to have (or demonstrate willingness to develop):

  • experience of working with pupils
  • an understanding of SEN
  • ability to quickly build relationships with challenging pupils
  • be able to work on your own initiative

This is a challenging role and you must be able to cope with stressful interpersonal situations whilst maintaining a high degree of professionalism.

  • To deliver PSHE and Careers education for KS1-5
  • To encourage pupils in personal development, achievement and integration into the School
  • To support out of classroom activities as part of a broad and varied curriculum
  • To ensure Child Protection and Safeguarding is of paramount importance
  • Follow procedures for accident, illness, absconding and absence for pupils and to adhere to all school policies
  • Contribute to any meetings that are called for the education and welfare of pupils
  • To conduct any reasonable duties as directed by the Head Teacher or their representatives

The Grange Therapeutic School is an independent special school for young people aged 8 -18 years with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Our school is based in a Victorian country house near Oakham with stunning views and fantastic facilities to develop not only the educational, but also the social and emotional needs of our pupils. With access to woods and lakes on site, the school has an ethos about delivering a personalised curriculum tailored to, and driven by, the individuals. Behaviour is currently rated as "Outstanding" by Ofsted.
