Senior Developer

My client are the nation's leading e-commerce agencies and are looking for an experienced and talented front-end developer to join this new team. We have a reputation for building websites with exceptional design, utilising cutting-edge web development techniques.

Having focused on Magento for the last 10 years, they are building a new team to focus on Shopify builds as their customers' demands grow. In this varied and exciting role, you'll create beautiful e-commerce websites and progressive web apps for local and national retail brands. Working from Figma, you'll execute sophisticated front-end user experiences.

About You

On top of all the relevant technical skills, you'll be an excellent communicator with strong time management skills and the ability to work to deadlines. You'll have experience with e-commerce platforms like Shopify and BigCommerce. Experience with other CMS Platforms, Headless sites, Progressive Web Applications, and/or Composable Commerce are ideal, but not essential.

We are looking for a Developer who is motivated, able to work independently and as part of a larger team, and who takes pride in their builds. You'll be responsible for the front-end implementation of major brand websites and must be able to deliver pixel-perfect, high-quality user experiences across all modern devices.

Essential Skills

  • Strong experience in building Shopify/Shopify 2.0 sites and Liquid/Tailwind themes
  • Strong experience with HTML5, CSS3 (CSS preprocessors such as LESS/SASS), JavaScript, and JavaScript Frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, etc)
  • Experience styling sites based on designs in Figma or inVision
  • Version control software (Git)
  • Strong grasp of modern UX/UI principles with attention to detail, including pixel-perfect execution of responsive designs
  • Experience with speed testing, profiling, and optimisation of websites from a front-end perspective
  • An understanding of the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines
  • Great communication skills and proven ability to work within a team environment
  • A passion for constant learning and discovery within your discipline

Beneficial Skills

The following skills are not a requirement for applications but will be very useful in the role.

  • Familiarity with phpMyAdmin and MySQL
  • Experience with the Shopify API, such as having developed a custom Shopify app or a headless Shopify store.
  • Experience in full-stack web frameworks such as NextJS, NuxtJS, or Remix
  • Familiarity with package managers such as NPM, Yarn, and Composer
  • Experience with other ecommerce platforms such as Magento 2 or BigCommerce
  • Knowledge of Prismic, Hydrogen, or other headless CMS platforms
  • Experience using RESTful or GraphQL APIs
  • Experienced with good SEO practice in page markup (semantic HTML, use of schema, rich snippet markup)
