Chair Non-Exec Director

Posted by North Hampshire Urgent Care.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead North Hampshire Urgent Care (NHUC). We are looking for an experienced and successful Chair or Non-Executive Director to join us for 2 days per month in our patient focussed Community Benefit Society, which operates as an independent organisation in partnership with the NHS.

We are seeking a new Chair due to the overseas relocation of our current Chair, to be a strong support and sounding board to the Chief Executive Officer and other Directors and to ensure the Council and Committees of North Hampshire Urgent Care (NHUC) operate with effectiveness in all aspects of governance, process and assurance whilst considering the strategic plan and the organisations operations.

The Chair will provide support, insight and challenge and will build strong and effective relationships within the organisation and wider system. As an exceptional communicator, you will bring credibility and gravitas in representing the interests of our organisation and patients with a wide range of stakeholders. With leadership experience at Board level, gained in dynamic environments, you will be politically astute and experienced in working across organisational boundaries.

NHUC provides Integrated Urgent Care services across sections of the Frimley and Hampshire IOW ICS footprints as well as talking therapies through our TalkPlus division for North East Hampshire and Farnham. As a key local player NHUC also partners with both our local acute hospitals to provide services such as The Aldershot Urgent Care centre and GP streaming.

As a nimble not for profit organisation NHUC is trusted by its partnering ICB's to create new ways of working within the local NHS system backed by strong governance, clinical oversight and assurance, and a can-do attitude. Revenues now exceed £15m annually, and we employ over 200 staff which are supported by a rota of over 100 self employed clinical contractors.

We would be particularly pleased to receive applications from candidates with a strong appreciation of the NHS in both primary care and mental health services.

This role will be both rewarding and challenging, joining at a really exciting time, offering you the opportunity to work with fantastic individuals to help shape the services we offer and to have maximum impact on the patients in our care.

Deadline for Applications is 30th June 2024.

NHUC is committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the communities it serves, valuing the benefits brought by access to a wide range of individual backgrounds, experience and skills. It aims to create an organisation which promotes equality and is free from discrimination and harassment, where all staff can fulfil their full potential in an environment of fairness, dignity and respect. Everyone working in or coming into contact with NHUC will be treated fairly and valued equally in line with employment practices and equal opportunities legislation.
