Location: Wockingham - Remote Split but 2 days a week in office

Duration: 3 months

We are IT Recruitment Specialists partnered with a prestigious Global Consultancy who required a Site Reliability Engineer(Need Active SC Clearance) for one of their Clients based in Wockingham - Remote Split but 2 days a week in office.

Role Description:

Your role will be to manage core production systems using Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles within Critical National Infrastructure (CNI). We are looking for a candidate with software development and/or DevOps experience to join the exciting new team.
The role requires software development skills and IT operations experience. The team is made up of traditional IT support, mixed with more software development focused resources.
Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team uses software engineering to automate IT operations tasks that would normally be performed by system administrators. These tasks include production system management, change management and incident response. A SRE spends no more than half their time performing manual IT operations and system administration tasks - analyzing logs, performance tuning, applying patches, responding to incidents - and spends the rest of their time developing code to automate those tasks.

  • The SRE team have L2 support responsibilities and will lead the triages.

You will be trained in and exposed to many different modern technologies (OpenShift/Kubernetes, Tekton, ArgoCD/GitOps, Elasticsearch/Kibana, Prometheus/Grafana, Istio, Kafka, PostgreSQL). It is not expected that the applicant has experience in all these technologies - but does has an appreciation for cloud native technologies, DevOps concepts and a strong appetite to learn on the job.
You will work collaboratively within cross-functional teams, including large scale product development teams and will be driven to find better, faster, more effective ways of delivery and value to the products you are supporting. This is a fast-paced environment. Nationally critical environment where you will have the chance to grow and develop your skills and experience.

Skills:

  • Software Development Experience (a good understanding of Agile Software Development).

Should have:

  • Production support experience
  • ITSM knowledge
  • On-call support capacity
  • Understand Cloud Native Concepts, incl. Containerization & Microservices Architecture.
  • Experience of using OpenShift or other kubernetes based platforms - ideally in a DevOps or Administrative manner.
