Family Drug and Alcohol Domestic Abuse Specialist

RSR Justice are recruiting on behalf of Black County Women's Aid for a Family Drug and Alcohol Domestic Abuse Specialist that requires the post holder to work with families to provide a bespoke problem-solving approach to promote parental/family recovery and ultimately safeguarding children and young people.

This role requires you to drive.

This is a full time, permanent position based in Black Country and offers a salary of £24,310.04 - £27,751.55.

Main Duties:

  • Accessing a team of community IDVA's (Independent Domestic Abuse Advisors) and DAA (Domestic Abuse Advocates) to liaise with.
  • Operating within pre- proceedings and care proceedings and is an evidence based innovative approach to the problem of parental substance misuse (drugs and/or alcohol) which is having a negative impact on parenting capacity.
  • Advise the court and links parents with relevant local services.
  • Working in a co-located team, working alongside adult workers from mental health, drug & alcohol and social workers services.
  • You will be working closely with each service to lead on cases where domestic abuse is the primary factor and consulting on cases where domestic abuse is not the primary factor.
  • Offering families bespoke problem-solving approach to promote parental/family recovery and ultimately safeguarding children and young people.
  • To be empathic, compassionate and have the ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills, you must have the drive needed to advocate for clients in professional spaces such as court and in professional meetings with the Judge.

Essential Requirements:

  • Educated to minimum Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Experience of working with victims of domestic abuse in a professional capacity and managing a caseload of vulnerable individuals.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable adults and children, acknowledging safeguarding concerns and responding appropriately.
  • Experience of managing complex casework, including issues such as child abuse, mental health, substance abuse, working with trauma in adults and children and crisis intervention.
  • Experience of facilitating group work.
  • Experience of preparing accurate reports for formal settings such as, case conferences or similar proceedings
  • Have an excellent understanding and working practice of undertaking risk assessments and understanding the nature of domestic and sexual violence.
  • Holding and managing a caseload and working to timescales (SMART approach).

Role is subject to DBS check at the relevant level.
