We are looking for a Team Manager for a Leaving Care & Therapeutic Service in Halifax,

Hybrid: A balance between working from home and from a designated council workplace allocation, attending other workplaces as required.

Circumstances

You may be required to work some evenings to support events or activities with young people. You may also be required to deputise for the Service manager in some circumstances.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Support and supervise Practice Managers within the CTS and Pathways teams ensuring that therapeutic practice is maintained to the highest standards.
  • Promote and lead a culture of professional responsibility, accountability, learning and continuous improvement and ensure that the teams' work meets relevant national and local performance targets.
  • Ensure that all team members receive appropriate and regular professional supervision and appraisal including an appropriate balance between performance management, support, reflection, and professional development.
  • Develop and motivate staff and provide supervision and performance management to achieve high quality service delivery in the face of challenges.
  • Provide regular reports to the Service Manager, Permanence & Sufficiency on service delivery and development and take responsibility for the service plans for CTS and Pathways service.
  • Ensure the CTS service has a good understanding of the needs of children and young people through robust referral and monitoring processes, using data to service plan and manage the budget allocation, ensuring that the Council's financial systems and regulations are complied with including reporting.
  • Work with colleagues in other service areas (internally and externally) to develop their understanding of the work of CTS and the support on offer to them, and to develop and maintain potential joint referral pathways with colleagues in health.
  • Ensure the welfare and safeguarding of children looked after and care leavers, including those at risk of exploitation and those experiencing mental health problems.
  • Develop and maintain strategic policy in relation to care leavers including the local Care Leaver offer and involve and engage service users in the design, development, quality assurance and delivery of the service, keeping them at the heart of everything we do.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key partner agencies to ensure the support available to children looked after and care leavers is robust and integrated into the care leaver offer. Develop a multi-service hub for care leavers that includes social opportunities.
  • Ensure quality and effectiveness of the service through effective quality assurance, audit and through understanding and knowledge of the Ofsted inspection framework.
  • Deputise for the Service Manager as required and undertake specific tasks as delegated by the Service Manager Permanence & Sufficiency and Assistant Director Early Intervention and Safeguarding Services.

  • DIPSW or equivalent qualification in Social Work
  • Social Work England registration
  • Enhanced and in date DBS certificate.
  • Excellent communication skills and be able to make good decisions based on information available.
  • Can work alone and within/contribute to a team/multi-agency set ups
  • Possess knowledge of service needs.
  • Competent IT skills and be able to navigate electronic file/recording systems.
  • Can write clear, concise, and robust assessment/reports/files.
  • Have a flexible approach to work and working hours when the need arises
