The desk sits within Core Rates Trading which is part of the Investment Bank (IB). It is an XVA desk which ensures the Business is funded accurately and most optimally. The desk also manages the discounting risk of the business, along with several complex second order risk features. It is mandated with Initial Margin optimisation bilaterally vs. clients as well as vs. Central counterparty clearing houses (CCPs). The desk is further responsible for the determination and delivery of the eligible assets to post against outstanding derivatives exposure, to mitigate and protect the bank from Counterparty Credit risk in the most efficient and optimal manner.

Your key responsibilities

  • Day-to-day management and full understanding of centralised Global Rates funding processes
  • Day-to-day risk management of the desk's trading books, with emphasis on short-end interest rate delta, Foreign Exchange (FX) and cross-currency delta management
  • Involvement in complex discounting/funding/balance sheet optimisation packages with external and internal counterparties involving other trading desks
  • Involvement in the risk management of discounting delta based on different types of eligible collateral as defined in International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA)/Credit Support Annex's (CSAs)
  • Assessment of relevant ISDA/CSA provisions, which are relevant to valuations
  • Making a positive impact on the Bank's PnL and balance sheet by working with Trading, Sales, Strats, Operations, Legal and Information Technology to improve delivery of a more efficient Funding and Collateral solution for the Bank

Your skills and experience

  • Knowledge of Rates over-the-counter (OTC) products and asset classes, ideally with some prior trading experience.
  • Ability to work strategically to solve problems in a complex global environment
  • Able to work in a team environment as well as independently, take ownership and work to deadlines
  • An excellent communicator in both written and verbal forms
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and other relevant analytics tools
  • Relevant education such as a Bachelor of Science (BSc)/Master of Science (MSc) or the equivalent work experience or qualifications
