Transport Planning and Compliance Manager

Frederic Smart and Son have a great opportunity for a Transport Planner/Compliance Manager to join our team in Warrington.

As a Transport Planner/Compliance Manager you will be responsible for controlling the efficient deployment and routing of delivery vehicles around the UK. This will include route planning, allocating resources and administrating delivery metrics on a day-to-day basis. You will also be responsible for maintaining all aspects of a safe and legal and compliant transport operation.
You will help deliver a first-class customer service through agreed KPI's that maximise vehicle and manpower utilisation with a commercial consideration. You will also take responsibility for workplace transport health & safety standards whilst ensuring regulatory compliance is adhered to.

Key Accountabilities:

Planning:

  • Plan workloads to minimise running costs and maximise vehicle revenue.
  • Briefing and De-briefing drivers, Sourcing extra drivers when needed
  • Ensuring KPI's are met, Maintaining driver and depot communication.
  • Working within the team to achieve the common goal of effectively servicing our current client base.

Compliance:

  • Maintain all relevant aspects of a safe, legal and compliant transport operation.
  • Ensure that all relevant statutory laws, Drivers Hours Rules & Regulations, Road Transport (Working Time) Regulations, Operators Licence and all Company policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Manage all periodic and ad hoc fleet repairs and maintenance, including defect rectification, breakdowns, VOR's.
  • Control all temporary and permanent fleet amendments, including vehicle condition checks and registration to all relevant accounts and portals (i.e. M6 Toll, Dart Charge, Mersey Gateway, Operator Licence and motor insurance etc.)
  • Investigate all driver and vehicle related accidents, incidents, claims and convictions and maintain an effective and efficient means of communication with our motor insurance provider.
  • Uphold the company Health & Safety system, ensuring that all documentation is current and clear, and that processes are adhered to.
  • Upkeep of all professional organisations and accreditations.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Familiarity with transportation management systems.
  • Experience monitoring drivers.
  • A CPC desirable
  • Able to organise workload in a consistent and methodical way.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, relationship building and a strong communicator.
  • Customer focussed, ensuring that the customer is at the heart of everything we do.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise, work to deadlines, without supervision and on their own initiative.
  • High levels of drive and enthusiasm.
  • Meticulous in their approach.
  • Dynamic and proactive.

Experience:

  • Transport Planning: 3 years (required)
  • Customer service: 3 years (required)
  • Transport Compliance 3 years (required)
  • CPC (desirable)

Work Location: Warrington
Salary: £38,000 - £40,000 per annum
Job Type: Permanent
Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday
