A quick look at the role
As Head of Data & Reporting at Biffa, your role is crucial in the success of revolutionising data and reporting automation using Microsoft technology. You will have a significant interest in enabling technology for Finance, Data and Reporting and a proven track record in clearly prioritised deployment of right-sized automated reporting solutions in a fast-growing business context.
Your core responsibilities
- In partnership with the Central Data & Analytics team, lead on the prioritisation and development efforts to automate finance reporting processes in line with Group strategic priorities using Microsoft technologies such as Power BI.
- In partnership with the Central Data & Analytics team, establish data and reporting development methodology and ways of working to ensure consistency in quality standards and reporting governance
- Lead projects related to data and reporting automation, from planning and execution to monitoring and evaluation.
- Collaborate with teams across Finance, to understand reporting requirements and deliver right-sized and suitable solutions to information and reporting needs
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimisation in data management and reporting.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives within scope, budget, and timeline constraints.
- Manage a team responsible for data and reporting automation initiatives.
Our essential requirements
- Experience in Star Schemas and Tabular Modelling.
- Hands-on experience in implementing Power BI solutions for financial reporting and analysis, including dashboard design and data visualisation.
- Strong understanding of financial principles, including financial statements analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Knowledge of SQL databases and experience in querying, extracting, and manipulating financial data from relational databases.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or R for data manipulation, automation, and statistical analysis is beneficial.
- Demonstrable experience in leading and managing projects related to data and reporting automation, from inception to completion
- Strong leadership and team management skills to effectively lead a team responsible for data analysis, reporting, and automation initiatives.
