Description

  • Manage and oversee resources, including strategies for building and updating fleets, hiring, training, keeping, and meeting customer demand based on set performance goals.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, legal, and policy standards through fleet audits, operational safety measures, and meeting health and safety goals and performance benchmarks.
  • Provide operational solutions that exceed customer expectations based on set performance goals, including managing fleets and drivers at all locations, handling deliveries, optimizing routes between depots, and managing returns throughout the UK, while also offering additional services to meet budget goals.
  • Implement financial controls to meet customer open book budgets and the company's broader business goals, and to earn bonus contributions for meeting performance and goals. Assist in developing budget goals and initiatives to seize opportunities through collaborative efforts.
  • Effectively communicate and distribute the strategic plan, which is divided into specific, measurable tasks at the site level, to ensure the team understands their roles in achieving the broader strategy and are motivated to perform their tasks with purpose.
  • Facilitate the natural expansion of the business by conducting Supply Chain Mapping analyses and developing Joint Account Plans, and by supporting the design and development of solutions for new business ventures aimed at achieving sustainable growth.
  • Showcase strong leadership in people by providing coaching, mentoring, and developing team members.

Profile

  • This position is a General Manager role, featuring a significant Open Book budget allocated to a client's site. It demands expertise in overseeing every facet of a site, managing operations led by customers, and a solid history of implementing innovative solutions for enhanced performance and operational efficiency.
  • Eager to leverage their expertise and experience in Construction and MOL transport operations, as well as legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiar with the entire duration of a project, including its initiation and termination phases.
  • Understanding of the business model for support services and contracts, including Subcontract Haulier 3PL services.
  • Exemplary in maintaining strong relationships with customers and managing people, with the ability to adjust their communication style and methods to suit different situations.
  • Effective in establishing productive relationships with stakeholders, influencing the management team to foster a culture of responsibility and ownership, leading to superior performance.
  • Capable of adopting a flexible strategy and planning approach, with a history of modifying operational strategies to meet evolving customer needs while also ensuring profitability.
  • Proficient in leveraging IT and technology to enhance performance through the analysis of business intelligence data to inform decisions based on the root causes of performance trends.
  • Grasp of team dynamics and structure, utilizing this knowledge to create high-performing teams, ensuring clear responsibility and accountability, and focusing on identifying skill gaps and developing comprehensive plans for team members to acquire the necessary skills and opportunities for advancement.

Job Offer

  • An attractive salary package between £90,000 and £110,000 per year.
