Teacher of Music and Drama Location: Selby, North Yorkshire Start date: October 2024 Contract: Full Time, Maternity Cover Salary: MPS/UPS; £30,000 - £46,525 per annum

Are you a dedicated and passionate Music and Drama Teacher? Do you have a strong commitment to fostering academic growth and positively impacting students' lives? If so, GSL Education are seeking a passionate and dynamic Teacher of Music and Drama to join an Ofsted graded "Good" Secondary School in Selby, North Yorkshire, starting from October 2024.

The successful candidate will join a thriving and forward-thinking Performing Arts team of a Secondary school where a "can do" mentality empowers students to succeed and make visible progress. The school offers an extensive CPD Programme to help teachers progress in their career. You will work in an environment where all staff are committed to creating a healthy mental health and wellness culture throughout, that decreases stigma, fosters understanding, and increases awareness. The school has a broad and balanced range of subjects that promotes a culture that values achievement, aspirations, and ambition for all. What we are looking for:

  • A forward-thinking professional who can motivate students by stoking their enthusiasm for drama and music.
  • Has Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Possesses a Degree in Music, Drama, Performing Arts, or a related field.
  • Has proven experience teaching Music and Drama at Key Stage 3 and GCSE level.
  • Key Stage 4 offers a vocational course, therefore familiarity with the BTEC curriculum and evaluation would be beneficial.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education. DBS sponsorship is available for this position.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Teach Music and Drama at Key Stage 3 and Music at Key Stage 4.
  • Create sequences of lessons that progressively build students' skills and knowledge in both subjects.
  • Continuous contribution to the performing arts team and the school as a whole.
  • Identify and address diverse learning needs, providing additional support or enrichment opportunities.
  • Oversee school productions, concerts, and performances, including annual plays, musicals, and recitals.
  • Lead extracurricular activities, such as music ensembles, drama clubs, and workshops, to enhance students' learning experiences.
