We are currently looking for a Project Planning Specialist with a wealth of experience in the industrial sector, including chemical, oil, and gas. This contract role is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional with a robust background in planning and scheduling major capital projects. The position will require occasional business travel, potentially including international trips.

Project Planning Specialist/Senior Planner

  • Location: Near Chester (Hybrid - 3 days on-site, 2 days remote)
  • Contract Duration: Initial 4 months with potential for extension
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
  • Rate: £488 per day or £61 per hour (PAYE/Umbrella)
  • Start Date: 19th September 2024

Day to Day of the role:

  • Develop and own the integrated management schedule for the project.
  • Interrogate and analyze the EPCM schedule and progress reporting.
  • Plan and schedule client work packages, including planning, permitting, and other regulatory approvals.
  • Work closely with clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure effective schedule planning.
  • Challenge client and contractor schedules, demonstrating the basis for challenges.
  • Review progress submissions from the contractor and provide advice and guidance to the client.
  • Support the change management process and lead schedule reviews.
  • Conduct schedule interactive planning reviews and what-if analysis.
  • Provide schedule input to the client project team and business support functions, such as finance.
  • Offer ad-hoc support to the client as required by the Client Director.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Over 10 years of experience, with more than 5 years in a senior commercial role on major capital projects.
  • Must have experience with major EPC or EPCM contracts, either client or contractor side.
  • Strong planning background, ideally client-side, with knowledge of risk management.
  • Familiarity with front-end development processes and FEL gates is desirable.
  • Proficient in schedule planning, permitting, and regulatory approvals.
  • Excellent analytical skills for schedule interrogation and progress reporting.
  • Ability to lead schedule reviews and meetings with contractors on behalf of the client.
