Application Development and Support Manager

Reporting to the Head of Digital

Based in: Wilton

Position overview:

Work with Sembcorp Group and the Head of UK D&T to define the right support model for all applications, where possible and to ensure an economy of scale. The UK will use corporately brokered contracts and corporate systems. The ADSM will ensure that SLA are in place where possible for all applications irrespective of point of delivery. Simplify the current software architecture within SEUK and utilise the application support team to deliver it. This will enable SEUK to operate and report on its assets with confidence. Also responsible for the implementation of a reporting procedure for the application support teams effectiveness throughout the life cycle of their contract. This will be in the form of managing SLA's and reporting their adherence to the wider business, configuring alerts from the applications to allow easy monitoring of issues as they arise and to provide RCA on support tickets logged to the team.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of all application enhancements, application support and application monitoring.
  • Work alongside the Product Owner scoping the product backlog to allow the application support team to deliver the services within the agreed timescales and costs.
  • Responsible for selecting the right technologies in line with fiscal constraints.
  • Responsible for simplifying the current application base and ensuring users have the right technology to facilitate customer requirements.
  • Manage and maintain relationship with application support providers inclusive of management of SLA resourcing, change management, checks and controls of management of resource and delivery.
  • Work with product owner to size, to scope and deliver product backlog within agreed timescales and costs.
  • Manage all third-party vendors to deliver application support and delivery.
  • Continually look to refine and simplify application infrastructure and improve clarity of processes.
  • To be responsible for creation and maintenance of technical documentation.
  • To oversee and develop all application monitoring and put in place appropriate alerting and ensure alerts are acted upon.
  • Deploy and manage data repository's for Sembcorp's operational data across Flex and Wilton businesses.
  • Define tools, architecture and infrastructure to be utilised by the application support providers.
  • Identify and highlight lost opportunities and build this into the back log where applicable.
  • Perform RCA on application Resolve tickets.
  • Develop software architecture maps providing clarity to the business.
  • Lead and support the onboarding of third-party application support team.
  • Facilitate application support team within SEUK and third party to work together to deliver.
  • Create and deploy reporting suite for D&T and the wider business to improve visibility on applications.
  • Primary custodian of the Volt application and report value add to the business.
  • Provide OOH support for Flex and Wilton Digital & Technology systems.
  • Manage and maintain Wilton's application services provided to the business.
  • Work alongside Data Science team in delivery of Condition Monitoring Project.
  • Efficiently manage UK application support team to support Sembcorp in delivery of its future project plan.
  • Ensure that the organisation has the access to data and the skills to ensure that it can make sure of information and data in a safe environment. Constantly look to build learning, skills and sharing knowledge with others.
  • You will be responsible for several key decisions and influences - including prioritization of reporting requirements and you will influence tooling and approach to a raft of technologies, metering, reporting.

**Main Challenges:

  • Onboarding the third-party application support team and managing their relationship with the current development team within SEUK's flex business. The TBC must ensure full documentation of all application services, tools and processes along with the smooth transition of Azure, DevOps and application Knowledge into the hands of the third party.
  • Focusing the application support team on simplifying the complex array of services and applications to reduce overall complexity and therefore reduce outages and allow for quicker more effective support of the application base.
  • Integration of the application support team and the Wilton applications team. There will be a significant knowledge gap and the TBC must ensure that this gap is reduced which will facilitate the upskilling of the UK team.

**Qualification, Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or comparable industry certification with demonstrable experience.
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills i.e. able to articulate at all levels to key stakeholders and relay complex information.
  • Work with the multiple teams across the business to deliver application development and support and reporting solutions in line with requirements.
  • Excellent documentation skills and a desire to map out new processes.
  • Agile experience.
  • Excellent knowledge in cloud computing and visualization tools (e.g. Grafana)
  • .Net, angular and CosmosDB
  • Experience of Visual Basic and Classic ASP is desirable but not essential
  • Experience with Azure Logic apps and Power Apps is desirable but not essential
  • Strong SQL knowledge
  • Knowledge of GE's Historian product and associated applications desirable
