Job Title: Finance Assistant
Location: Bristol, BS1 (hybrid working available)
Position Type: Full-Time, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
About Us:
SSR are a niche wholesale broker/MGA underwriting specialist, providing liabilities-led insurance for commercial business on a delegated authority basis. All our products are sold exclusively to insurance brokers based throughout the UK.
We are seeking an experienced and detail orientated Finance Assistant to join our existing finance team.
Job Summary:
As a Finance Assistant, you will be managing daily transactional finance activities, including both accounts receivable and accounts payable, reporting to the Finance Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Credit control, communicate with brokers and account handlers to follow up on overdue invoices.
- Resolve broker queries daily in collaboration with internal teams.
- Process and allocate remittances received from brokers.
- Post and allocate daily bank receipts and payments.
- Reconcile bank accounts daily.
- Ensure timely payment of broker commissions or return premiums, where applicable.
- Keep insurers informed of any aged debtors and send them statements on a monthly basis.
- Reconcile statements received from insurers and remit on a monthly basis.
Experience Required:
Minimum of 2 years experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry.
Essential Skills:
Competent using Microsoft Office suite (including excel and word).
Strong organisational skills.
Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable (but not essential) Skills:
AAT Qualified or studying at AAT level.
Prior experience using Acturis software (training will be provided where there is no prior experience).
