  • Location: Leeds (LS9)
  • Job Type: Full-time, Evening Shift (Monday - Thursday 15.45hrs to midnight, Friday - 12.15hrs to 18.15hrs)
  • Salary: £19.12 per hour PAYE

My client are seeking a skilled Vehicle Maintenance Technician to join their Fleet Services team. The role involves evening work and is focused on the maintenance and repair of the Council's diverse fleet of commercial, heavy goods, and specialist municipal vehicles. This is a vital position ensuring the safety and reliability of the Council's fleet in compliance with statutory regulations and Council policy.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Conduct accurate fault diagnosis of vehicle and specialist equipment defects.
  • Utilise specialist tools for repair and maintenance purposes with care.
  • Perform all work efficiently in line with specified repair policies.
  • Report and suggest preventive work for any defects observed during repair processes.
  • Complete all job-related documentation for management and charging purposes, including data entry into computer systems.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, adhering to safety procedures, including on-site work as directed.
  • Inspect, service, repair, maintain, and diagnose faults on a range of vehicles as instructed.
  • Follow all managerial directives regarding the use of GPS mobile workshop vehicles.
  • Meet repair and service time standards as documented in ICME, Autodata manuals, and pre-planned service schedules.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in servicing and repairing commercial vehicles.
  • Completed a minimum 3-year period in an approved apprenticeship or recognised training scheme with external testing and validation.
  • At least two years of continuous experience in a commercial repair/service environment.
  • High degree of manual dexterity.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively, both written and orally.
  • Numeracy skills sufficient for measuring tasks and tool setting.

Qualifications & Training:

  • Knowledge of City and Guilds 4101 Light Vehicle maintenance and repair or equivalent qualification.
