Teaching Assistant

Horizon Teachers are working with a forward-thinking and inclusive primary school based in Westminster, assisting in their search to expand their support team.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with various needs within mainstream and specialist classrooms. You will work closely with an experienced team to provide personalised care and education, enabling students to thrive in a mainstream school setting.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Work alongside the class teacher and support staff, supporting students in and out of the classroom.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Undertake tasks within the classroom to assist the teacher and children.
  • Supervise during lunch time and breaks.
  • Monitor and record the progress, communicating effectively with the relevant staff.
  • Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills related to supporting children with complex needs.

What do the school require from you?

  • Experience working with children in an EYFS or Primary settings.
  • Experience supporting children with SEND, either in a personal or educational capacity.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Confident and able to use your initiative.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with special needs.
  • Knowledge of relevant safeguarding policies and procedures.
