Aspiring Speech & Language Therapist

Posted by Academics .

Are you eager to gain experience working with children who have special educational needs? Have you recently graduated and are considering a career as an Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist, Art Therapist, Psychologist, or a related profession?

If so, then this is the role for you!

A Special Needs School based in Oxford are looking for a Graduate to join their team as a Learning Support Assistant. The role will involve supporting students in the classroom, all of whom have additional needs. This may include Autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, physical disabilities, behavioural challenges or communication difficulties. This is therefore the perfect role for someone looking to gain experience in this field before going on to further study.

As a Learning Support Assistant, your day-to-day will involve supporting the students in the classroom, making sure they understand the task at hand. At this school, well being is just as important as academic success, so you will ensure each child is supported socially and emotionally, and guarantee that school is a place where they feel happy and safe. Behaviour management and personal care may also be required.

This would be a fantastic opportunity for a graduate interested in becoming a Speech and Language Therapist, Counsellor or Psychologist. This vital first-hand experience will allow you to undertake further training, gain experience working alongside various Therapy teams and give you an insight into different therapeutic approaches used to engage vulnerable students.
