Vocation Liaison Worker

Are you a Vocational Liaison Worker passionate about helping some of the most vulnerable people in society live more independently? Then join Wellesley Hospitalas a Vocation Liaison Worker, where you will be looking after men and women with mental health problems.

Under the supervision of the Lead Occupational Therapist, this role will support with enhancing service users recovery through facilitating real work opportunities both internally and externally.

You will be helping to create opportunities for service users within the community whilst simultaneously supporting the hospital to build positive relationships with external services.

This role is key in providing service users with the experience of realistic job roles to enable them to develop their independent living skills further and to develop skills for future employment following discharge from hospital.

You will also be lead on the ‘service user led café within the hospital.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be supported regionally and will have access to a variety of training and online courses to support your career development and growth.

As a Vocational Liaison Worker, you will be:

  • Co-ordinating and establishing community volunteer opportunities by developing positive relationships with local organisations.
  • Completing the inventory and ordering of stock for the onsite café. With a key focus on promoting healthy lifestyles.
  • Demonstrating the use of creativity and productivity to provide a varied catalogue of job roles to support patients in developing their skills for independent living.
  • Working collaboratively with the activities team to provide activities through the Hospital Café.
  • Supporting service users to develop their skills through regular supervision.
  • Delivering creative workshops that illustrate the benefits of daily occupations.
  • Co-ordinating work-related therapeutic activities including CV writing sessions, mock interview scenarios and job fayres.
  • Co-ordinating and lead on interviewing service users for roles within the hospital and voluntary roles within the community.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A full UK Driving License
  • To be able to demonstrate experience with working with people with Mental Health Problems/Learning Disability/ASD
  • To be able to demonstrate familiarity with local community organisations.

The Wellesley Hospital built in 2017 works alongside Devon Partnership NHS Trust, Avon and Wiltshire Foundation Trust, Cornwall Foundation Trust, 2gether Foundation Trust, Cygnet Healthcare and Livewell to deliver the best possible environment for patients with mental health issues.
