Reed Education is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team, providing high-quality, therapeutic education to pupils aged 11 to 17 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), as well as other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and are equipped to handle the varied and challenging nature of our work.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Support teaching and learning activities tailored to individual student needs.
  • Work closely with children on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to deliver educational sessions.
  • Manage classroom resources effectively to enhance the learning experience.
  • Accompany and supervise children on educational trips and visits.
  • Provide social support during lunchtimes for children who struggle socially.
  • Utilise strong behaviour management skills to maintain a safe environment.
  • Engage in creative play and teach games that develop social skills and learning.
  • Create inspiring classroom displays that support teaching and foster an exceptional learning environment.
  • Celebrate student success and participate in therapeutic training sessions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A good basic understanding of English and Maths.
  • Experience in managing complex and challenging behaviours.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and excellent communication abilities.
  • Resilience, persistence, and a solution-focused attitude.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing needs.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development in therapeutic education.
  • Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one.
