Bulk MI Analyst

Canada Life UK is transforming to create a more customer-focused business by providing our customers with expertise on financial and tax planning, offering home finance and annuities propositions, and providing collective fund solutions to third party customers.

Job Purpose:
To produce regular BPA MI to support management review and sound decision making with respect to the bulk annuity business line, including a monthly MI pack, pipeline and sales reporting and risk MI. The role holder will also support in delivering the overall goals of the strategy and commercial director, including producing input for business planning and market analysis.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for timely and accurate production of monthly (and adhoc as required) Bulk Purchase Annuity (BPA) business management information pack, focussing on making KPIs clear. Involves working with teams across BPA including Pricing, Business development and Operations as well as teams from Finance

  2. Responsible for timely and accurate BPA sales and pipeline reporting on a frequent basis, working closely with the pricing and business development teams.

  3. Supporting update and production of the BPA operating model and business planning results.

  4. Support the BPA commercial and risk manager in analysing the BPA market, including being responsible for gathering competitor, EBC and scheme market data.

  5. Production of BPA division risk MI for management and senior committees.

  6. Continuous Improvement

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry best practices, and regulatory changes relevant to data analytics and reporting in Bulk Annuities
  • Support evaluation and implement appropriate tools and systems to enhance data analysis and reporting capabilities.
  • Focus on delivering a culture of continuous improvement, promoting data-driven decision-making throughout the organization.
  1. Implement and embed the Enterprise Risk Management framework within all reporting in Bulk division.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Some knowledge and understanding of the BPA market desirable but not essential from outset
  • Experience in data analysis, reporting, and insights generation.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Excel, Python, R) and data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Ability to influence peers to provide timely input
  • Ability to present insights and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Creative and flexible in their approach to work
  • Strong analytical skills - ability to use, interpret and develop meaningful data
  • Collaboration and facilitation skills
  • Technical ability - demonstrates commitment to develop and extend technical knowledge and skills.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards within the UK life insurance industry.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work-based experience/qualification) in mathematics, business, finance, economics, statistics, or a related numerate field.
