Product Development Technologist - 1 Year Industrial Placement

Lowestoft, Suffolk - Commences Summer 2025

Are you passionate about food and would be interested in the opportunity

of being part of a team which creates great tasting products? If so, and you're studying towards a Science degree and wish to develop yourself personally and professionally then look no further, our R&D team is offering a 12-month industrial placement.

Over the year working as part of our Research, Development and Quality team at our Lowestoft factory site in Suffolk, you will broaden your knowledge and gain a variety of experiences, by undertaking a role which:

  • Teaches you about consumer preferences and trends in multiple markets and provides first-hand experience of R&D specification systems and operational processes
  • Provide hands-on experience developing bench prototypes through to supporting scale-up factory trials. This will broaden and strengthen your practical skills and teach you new ones
  • Gives you project responsibilities with challenging deadlines, delivering your findings as both written reports and presentations to senior managers
  • Teaches you about the innovation process, as you take a product from concept, through development into factory trials and ultimately to launch
  • Requires interaction with a variety of cross-functional teams for example Quality Assurance, Marketing, Finance, Packaging and Factory Process - this daily variety ensures that no two days are the same
  • Will give you the chance to visit our headquarters in London and meet colleagues from different functions to better understand their roles
  • Will invite you to participate in off-site training sessions with some of our key suppliers

Essential application requirements

  • Currently studying towards a BSc science degree course (or equivalent) that is related to or applicable to the food industry
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication and basic IT skills
  • Close attention to detail and good analytical skills
  • Can make independent decisions and work autonomously whilst also being comfortable as part of a team
  • Feel confident to constructively challenge your seniors

This placement is open to undergraduates seeking a 12-month sandwich placement starting Summer 2025

You must confirm you have agreement from your university to undertake a 12-month student placement.
