Location: Remote (within the UK)

Contract Duration: Minimum 12 months

Project Overview: Our organization is currently undergoing significant enhancements to our data security controls, with a focus on control implementation and data security measures. Over the past 7-8 months, our team has been managing multiple roles, particularly focusing on DSEC 1 and DSEC 2 controls. We are seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Consultant to lead the efforts in rewriting and enhancing these controls, ensuring robust data security across our systems.

Role Specifics:

1. DSEC 1 Control Area:

  • Duration: Long-term (minimum 12 months)

  • Priority: High

  • Focus: Extensive work on sensitivity classification of all data types

  • Unstructured Data: Currently using Microdot solution

  • Structured Data: Utilizing Microcredit technologies

  • Scope: Expansion to include databases and data architecture tools

  • Objective: Conduct an independent review and provide an experienced perspective on the controls, especially in relation to our Banks initiative using MIP and Purview, and Big ID tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the enhancement and rewriting of DSEC 1 and DSEC 2 controls.
  • Conduct sensitivity classification of all data, ensuring comprehensive coverage of both structured and unstructured data.
  • Expand the data security controls to encompass databases and data architecture tools.
  • Provide independent reviews and expert advice, particularly focusing on initiatives using Microsoft Information Protection (MIP), Microsoft Purview, and Big ID tools.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless implementation and integration of new security measures.
  • Stay updated with the latest cybersecurity trends and technologies to continuously improve our data security controls.

Technical Skillsets Required:

  • Data Security: In-depth knowledge of data sensitivity classification and data security controls.

  • Tools and Technologies:

  • Experience with Microdot and Microcredit technologies.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) and Microsoft Purview.

  • Familiarity with Big ID tools for data discovery and classification.

  • Database Security: Expertise in securing databases and implementing robust data architecture tools.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of relevant regulations and standards affecting data security.

  • Cybersecurity Frameworks: Knowledge of industry-standard cybersecurity frameworks and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a similar cybersecurity role, preferably within the financial sector.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct thorough security assessments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and provide unbiased, expert advice.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
