As an IT Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical support to our clients, ensuring the stability and efficiency of their IT systems. You will work closely with clients to troubleshoot and resolve issues, manage IT infrastructure, and provide proactive support. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a customer-focused attitude.

Location: Stockport

Salary: Up to £35,000

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first and second-level technical support to clients via phone, email, and remote access.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Manage and maintain client IT infrastructure, including servers, workstations, and network equipment.
  • Perform system monitoring, maintenance, and backups.
  • Install, configure, and update software and hardware components.
  • Assist in the deployment and management of client IT projects.
  • Document technical procedures, configurations, and support interactions.
  • Collaborate with other IT team members to ensure efficient and effective support delivery.
  • Provide on-site support as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends and industry best practices.

Skills:

  • 2+ years of experience in IT support, preferably in an MSP environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems.
  • Experience with server administration (Windows Server, Linux).
  • Proficiency in networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls).
  • Familiarity with cloud services (Office 365, Azure).
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Customer-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality support.

Beneficial skills:

  • Relevant certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, etc.).
  • Experience with virtualisation technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and tools.
  • Experience with remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools.
  • Familiarity with IT service management (ITSM) frameworks (ITIL).
