Customs & Compliance Analyst

Our client comprises of two iconic baked goods brands with a strong history and heritage who have now merged to create one unique, integrated company. Owned by an FMCG giant who operates in more than 50 countries, with products sold in over 170 countries, represented by almost 38.000 employees worldwide, and a consolidated turnover of €12.7 billion (2020-21).

An opportunity has arisen to join their Customer Service - International Operations team.

Purpose of the Role:

Managing International Customer orders predominantly finished goods, exports & imports inline with all international parameters INCO terms, Trade Agreements, Origin rules as defined by the country-to-country routes and trading route to market.

Ensuring that there is minimal cost to the business. The key to success is a proactive approach to customer communication, the initiative to highlight issues and solve problems in a timely manner, whilst applying drive for continuous improvement. With a high level of focus on international requirements and mitigating potential risks and identifying trends to the business to minimise costs and drive performance within the team. Understanding compliance processes as well as HMRC requirements for shipments from and to the UK to ensure trouble free movements.

Utilising creativity, resourcefulness and ingenuity to understand and enhance supply chain processes by generating key reports, extracting and assembling data, identifying problems, testing hypothesis, calculating KPIs, creating detailed analysis, building business cases and developing tools to turn data into insights for both business and specific customer account use when required.

Duties:

  • Order Management of customer orders from order receipt to order invoicing
  • Preparing and submitting International Export and Import documentation and compliance documentation
  • Responsibility for Order Fulfilment - Leading the daily execution of multiple customer orders through the order to cash cycle across the Supply Chain within customer lead times
  • Ensuring all processes and systems are used effectively to 100% accuracy and no impact on customer supply and costs to the business
  • Subject Matter Expert - Sound understanding of customs legislation and legal requirements to facilitate smooth flow of trade. Monitoring BB service providers to make sure they use correct legislation and procedures that in turn creates smooth cross border trade. Ensuring VAT and duty relief are taken advantage off where possible for all international trade Collaborating with customers so that end-to-end Supply Chain costs are minimized, and trade is legally compliant. This includes a good understanding of incoterms and HMRC compliance requirements a system changes such as CDS and Windsor IE/NI project
  • Collaborative Relationships with both internal and external customers. Internally - actively manage the relationship between the Customer Service team and other departments with an emphasis on BB international hubs, Supply Planning, Demand Planning and commercial teams
  • Skills in RCA to identify issues and have corrective action, with process implementation to support the business and reduce risks

Qualifications Essential & Desirable

  • Experience of International trade post Brexit and the requirements for UK Inbound and outbound shipments for Foods
  • Highly numerate with experience working in an analytical position
  • Educated to A level/equivalent or have relevant equivalent experience
  • Experience in a customer services or supply chain role
  • IT literate in Microsoft programs
