Linux Engineer

We are on the hunt for a Linux Engineer to join our team and provide 3rd line level support to a range of applications and platforms. This role is integral to the BAU operations and will contribute significantly to projects, new system builds, and various support requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a robust technical background, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative spirit to ensure project success and adherence to SLAs and OLAs.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Provide expert technical support and serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues.
  • Work closely with both local and centralized support teams to meet project timelines and agreements.
  • Engage with customers, necessitating strong interpersonal skills and the ability to travel, primarily within Europe.
  • Develop and execute action plans to maintain compliance with standards such as ISO27001 and ISO9001
  • Address incidents logged through the ITSM Portal by end users and participate in the Major Incident Response Team.
  • Participate in the On-Call Level 3 Application rotation to address high-priority issues outside of regular business hours.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems, including Debian 11 and Ubuntu 24.04.
  • Proficiency in containerisation technologies, particularly Docker.
  • Skilled in Ansible for automation purposes.
  • Strong capabilities in querying databases such as Microsoft SQL, MariaDB, MySQL, Cassandra.
  • Experienced with web servers like IIS, Apache, and Nginx.
  • Flexibility in working hours and availability for out-of-hours on-call support.

Desirable Skills:

  • Understanding of SSL Certificates and virtual server platforms.
  • Familiarity with Octopus deployment automation.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash and PowerShell.
  • Demonstrated experience in 3rd line support.
