2nd Line Support Technician

The NET Recruit team are delighted to be working with a highly successful manufacturing company based in the Portsmouth area, who are searching for an 2nd Line IT Support Technician to join their busy and growing team. This business has been experiencing a stable period of expansion and success in recent years and as such are looking to expand their internal support teams to ensure that all staff have access to the support, ensuring that the business can deliver a seamless service to its customers.

The position holder will primarily be providing 2nd line support, with the requirement for ad-hoc 1st line support when needed by the team. This support will be provided to members of staff across the business, and will involve actioning advanced and complicated tickets, as well as escalated tickets.

Your Role and Responsibilities:

While in this position your duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Providing support to employees in both a face-to-face and remote capacity, depending on what is required and the circumstances of the issue at hand
  • Addressing issues regarding more advanced or complex new tickets that are raised or escalated to the team, ensuring these are resolved in a reasonable amount of time
  • Supporting the Service Desk Manager to improve infrastructure and providing assistance on projects
  • Ensuring that notes and accompanying documentation for resolved tickets is accurate and updated
  • Keeping excellent communication with staff on progress of ticket resolutions, ensuring that effective case management is upheld at all times
  • When required, providing 1st Line support tasks to cover and support the team

What you will need to Apply:

Applicants must have demonstratable experience within IT support in a similar role. Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2016 and 2022 in a hybrid environment and good networking knowledge such as troubleshooting, firewall configuration, DNS, VLANs and DHCP is also required. Any applicants should have a sound technical understanding of PCs and desktop hardware, alongside the ability to provide support for Office 365, including SharePoint, Exchange and Intune. Excellent customer service and communication skills will be paramount to success alongside good organisational abilities.

The company have stated that this role will involve potentially a fair bit of walking to help colleagues on site, sometimes up to 5 minutes to reach the needed area, and so applicants should be able to handle this.

For the successful candidate in this role, a starting salary of up to £35,000 could be on offer, depending on previous experience and relevant technical knowledge.
