This is the perfect opportunity for an RTPI qualified planning professional to advance their career with our dedicated organisation.

In this critical role, you'll discover the perfect chance to make a significant impact on planning and development policies whilst developing your skills and your portfolio of experience in your chosen speciality.

Working to support our incredible National Park will enable you to operate from one of the most beautiful parts of Wales and the UK and undertake a huge variety of different work and projects. With historic and protected buildings dating back as far as the Norman times, 186 miles of coastline and a population of over 20,000, it's an exciting challenge to get stuck into.

The Role

As a Planning Officer, you will take on a range of planning activities for our National Park, either specialising in Development Management or Strategic Policy.

Depending on your specialism, you will either be involved in creating planning policies for various elements of the National Park such as transport, coastal, flooding and the economy, or you will determine all forms of planning, related applications and proposals.

Within strategic planning, you will join a small team and oversee our development plan and supplementary planning guidance. You will also be involved in Welsh language management policies for the Park.

Joining the Development Management Team, you will support the statutory local planning function, ensuring developments align with our purpose and strategy and managing planning casework. You will also undertake initial site inspections and correspond with applicants and other stakeholders.

Regardless of speciality, you will also:

  • Provide planning policy advice and support
  • Prepare, present, justify and recommend strategies, policies and guidance for development

About You

To be considered as a Planning Officer, you will need:

  • Experience of working within a planning department, either public or private practice
  • Up to date knowledge of current legislation and good practice in the field of planning
  • A professional planning qualification to degree or diploma level
  • Full Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) membership
  • A full, valid driving licence

Not the right opportunity for you? Make sure to check our website for a range of interesting volunteering opportunities across the park.

Other organisations may call this role Specialist Planning Officer, Planning Policy Officer, Town and Country Planner, Development Management Planner, Senior Planning Officer, Lead Planning Policy Officer, or Planning Development Officer.
