Our client is a leading environmental consultancy dedicated to assisting organisations in safeguarding the environment, minimising operational disruptions, and achieving sustainability goals.

We are seeking a skilled Tank Assessor with expertise in API 653 and EEMUA 159 standards to join our client's Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Division. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting thorough storage tank assessments using non-destructive and non-intrusive testing methods. Your work will involve utilising specialised equipment in various environments, collecting and analysing data, and preparing detailed reports with actionable recommendations.

The role:

  • Perform inspections to assess the condition, status, and lifespan of storage tanks, pipelines, and similar structures in compliance with API 653 and EEMUA 159 standards.
  • Generate comprehensive reports detailing findings, including recommendations for repair, replacement, or other corrective measures.
  • Ensure all testing equipment is fully functional, maintained, and compliant with safety regulations and manufacturer guidelines; arrange for repairs and servicing when needed.
  • Prioritise tasks to maximise efficiency and meet customer requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver proposals, quotes, and sales contracts to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring regular communication and engagement to meet their needs.
  • Provide feedback on new products, services, and market developments to relevant company teams.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation to activate and maintain contract services.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of ISO/IEC 17020 standards and their application in inspection activities.

The person

  • Extensive knowledge of NDT disciplines and standards, with specific expertise in EEMUA 159 and API 653.
  • Strong engineering background with a thorough understanding of tank design, construction processes, and the relevant safety regulations for dangerous goods.
  • Experience with RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements) documentation is advantageous.
  • Professional communicator with a commercial acumen, confident when liaising with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, particularly for preparing inspection reports and conducting tank life calculations under EEMUA 159 and API 653 guidelines.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development to enhance the division's capabilities and services.
  • Full and clean driving licence
  • Able to commit to staying away from home during the working week
