Based in Exeter, the South West division is expanding, and are looking for a dedicated and talented Assistant Town Planner or Town Planner to join the team.
Role Overview:
As an Assistant Town Planner / Town Planner, you will play a key role in supporting the planning and development activities across the region. You will work on a range of residential projects, helping to deliver new housing developments from the planning and design phase through to completion. This is a fantastic opportunity for a planning professional looking to develop their career within the housebuilding industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation and submission of planning applications for residential developments, including major and strategic sites.
- Liaise with local authorities, external consultants, and internal teams to ensure the smooth progression of planning applications.
- Conduct site appraisals and feasibility studies to assess the potential for development.
- Monitor and review local and national planning policies and keep the team informed of changes.
- Attend planning committee meetings, public consultations, and other stakeholder engagements.
- Provide support during appeals, including preparing necessary documents and liaising with legal advisors as needed.
- Ensure that all projects comply with planning regulations and contribute to the achievement of the company's growth targets.
Key Requirements:
- A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, or a related discipline (RTPI accredited).
- Working towards or fully chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
- Previous experience in a similar role, either in-house, consultancy, or within a local authority.
- Full UK driving licence.
