Children's Occupational Therapist in Waltham Forest, London

Are you enthusiastic about enabling children to participate in all areas of life as best they can? Do you have Band 6 or 7 equivalent experience of working in children's social services community services? Then we would love to hear from you!

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, committed occupational therapist, to join our growing team, where you will be part of an integrated service combining health and social care roles.

We are recruiting to a Band 7, fixed term, full-time post and would be delighted to consider applicants who are keen to be part of our journey, as we develop our integrated services for children and young people.

This is an excellent opportunity to further develop skills in relation to social services OT and to participate in developing service pathways and a successful integrated OT service. You would be working with other social services OTs and very closely with the health OT team and the broader MDT.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for a caseload of children and young people with a wide range difficulties, conditions or disabilities and will contribute to planning and co-ordinating service delivery. You will need to demonstrate excellent clinical knowledge, highly specialist assessment skills and communication skills and advanced knowledge of equipment and adaptations.

For this post, we are looking for a therapist with experience of working with children with disabilities, including experience of specialist equipment provision and assessing for housing adaptations.

You will strive to equip children and young people to develop independence and self-management; and to participate in all that supports their leading full and happy lives.

You will be keen to collaborate with all stakeholders in further developing an effective and responsive service for children and young people and their families/carers.

You will be motivated to develop your own learning, contribute to service development and the training and development of colleagues and students. The successful applicant will thrive on working as part of a team and have excellent communication skills.
