Payroll Assistant required for a Wolverhampton-based Manufactuing company.

Start Date 1st October 2024 - 1st October 2025. 12-month FTC.

  • Annual Salary: £28k
  • Location: Wolverhampton
  • Job Type: Full-time, 6-9- month fixed-term contract, Hybrid role 2 days WFH.
  • Hours 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday 8:30 am -5 pm, 1 hour for Lunch.

Reed Accountancy and Finance Wolverhampton are looking for a Payroll Assistant to join our client's manufacturing team on a fixed-term, 6-9-month basis. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a well-respected manufacturing team within the Wolverhampton Area. The role involves supporting the management with all aspects of the company's payroll function through the HR and payroll software and ensuring the delivery of the end-to-end payroll process for approximately 2000 monthly paid employees.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Inputting, processing, and administering all aspects of payroll and benefits.
  • Assisting with the checking of monthly payroll for sign-off, including producing reports and managing BACS salary submissions and third-party payments.
  • Undertaking thorough checking of payroll to ensure data integrity and communicating with relevant parties regarding any issues.
  • Liaising with third parties such as HMRC and benefits providers, ensuring accurate data transfer.
  • Interpreting and applying internal policies and government legislation to ensure compliance.
  • Maintaining payroll processing documentation and guidance notes.
  • Supporting the accurate recording and submission of all statutory information.
  • Dealing with payroll queries and providing guidance to employees and managers.
  • Working collaboratively with the wider HR team to improve knowledge of payroll-related processes.
  • Supporting the implementation of annual payroll system upgrades and testing new functionalities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of payroll experience
  • Experience of using a cloud-based HR and payroll software system, preferable Access HR and Payroll
  • Proven history of building strong relationships.
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to manage a high volume of work with conflicting deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in Excel, including formulae, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP.
  • Ability to work with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Proactive and professional working style with a methodical approach to work.
  • Strong communication skills and an appetite for learning.
