An great opportunity to join a privately owned, medium sized, business that are improving their processes and creating efficiencies to have a more effective finance function. You will suit this role if you have a growth mindset that can help set finance up for the future.

This is an interim role to work closely with the Finance Director to move finance away from very manual reporting in excel.

The business are global with complexity, multicurrency transactions and a good sized finance team based in Guildford. You will need to be able to ‘roll up your sleeves' and help with all aspects of accounts as well as manage staff and have a bigger picture perspective.

The focus of the role will be on the group management accounts, reporting, planning and analysis. It business partners with Regional Directors, the Board and Business Units Directors and supports strategic analysis.

Your responsibilities

Due to change in finance, you will need to motivate and inspire those around you and progress the finance team into newer ways of working. Broad thinking and strategic concepts need to be embraced to engender the change alongside excellent team management and accounting skills.

Management Accounting & Financial Control:

  • Monthly review of regional & global management accounts.
  • Ensuring controls, management reports, exception reports are created, produced and reviewed for accuracy and on time.
  • Leading and assisting with statutory audit preparation.
  • Understanding and developing Sage and other reporting systems and developments to improve controls, performance, insight and efficiency.
  • Budget and quarterly forecast preparation working with Business teams.

Business Reporting & Analysis:

  • Analysis of results, KPI's and changes in performance.
  • Comparing the Business model to optimise performance, manage investments and highlight areas for strategic development
  • Working capital analysis, investment evaluations and planning
  • Business partnering with central teams for overheads management, control, reporting and planning.

Team Management for fully qualified and part qualified accountants

Systems development

  • Using systems and databases effectively to support business growth.

Skills and Experience

  • You must be a Qualified Accountant with experience in a senior finance roles
  • Change management skills
  • Strong business partnering skills across all levels along with good technical accounting knowledge
  • Commercial awareness
  • Analytical skills to create financial insight, understand performance, drivers and KPIs.
  • Demonstrate excellent Excel
  • ‘Can do' attitude and ability to learn quickly
