Capital & Treasury Accountant

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Capital and Treasury Accountant to join a dynamic finance team working at a Council near Nottingham. This hybrid role requires you to work two days a week in our office, with the remaining days offering flexibility for remote work. You will play a crucial role in supporting our corporate financial planning, with a primary focus on the Capital Strategy and Treasury Management Strategy.

Capital & Treasury Accountant - About The Role

Key Responsibilities:

Capital Strategy and Treasury Management:

  • Assist in the development and management of the Capital Strategy and Treasury Management Strategy.
  • Undertake financial modelling and option appraisals for complex capital proposals.
  • Prepare the 5-year Capital Programme and draft reports for Members and management.
  • Report and present monthly capital finance forecasting and monitoring reports.

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

  • Complete Government Returns related to Capital and Treasury Management.
  • Prepare and update the Treasury Management Strategy and related reports to meet corporate and statutory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain cashflow and forecasting models for short/long-term financial planning.

Operational Management:

  • Oversee daily money management activities, including the bank reconciliation process.
  • Manage the Council's insurance function, including procurement, claim administration, and reporting.

Support to Directorates:

  • Provide comprehensive financial services to designated directorates.
  • Manage capital budget setting through to final accounts.

The successful Capital & Treasury Accountant will have/be:

  • Local Government experience.
  • CCAB or CIMA qualified Accountant or Accountant qualified by experience (must be minimum AAT qualified and have significant finance and accountancy experience at a senior level).
