Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Pilning, South Gloucestershire
Salary: £21,000 - £23,000 per annum

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team and make a meaningful impact on the lives of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Individualised Student Support: Work closely with students with SEN, providing one-on-one and small-group support tailored to their unique needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and other learning challenges.
  • Classroom Assistance: Collaborate with teachers to deliver engaging and accessible lessons, ensuring each student can participate fully in the classroom environment.
  • Curriculum Access: Adapt tasks and instructional materials to meet the needs of students, simplifying complex concepts to enhance comprehension.
  • Behavioural Guidance: Implement positive behaviour strategies to create a structured, encouraging environment conducive to learning.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Regularly communicate with teachers, the SENCo, and other support staff to ensure seamless support for each student. Participate in discussions regarding Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to student progress assessments.
  • Student Progress Tracking: Record and report on student development, providing valuable feedback to inform teaching adjustments and parental communications.

What We're Looking For:

  • Relevant Experience: Prior experience working with SEN students, either in a school setting or through roles in care or support, is preferred.
  • Effective Communicator: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Patient and Empathetic: A calm, understanding approach to working with students who may face challenges, creating a supportive and reassuring environment.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Ready to respond to varying needs in the classroom, adjusting your methods to best support each student.
  • Team Collaboration: Able to work effectively as part of a cohesive team, contributing insights and solutions to create a successful support system for each student.
