Safety, Health, Environment & Quality Manager – Exeter

A great opportunity waits for a SHEQ Manager to join a well-established construction company on a permanent basis. As the SHEQ Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic plans for SHEQ and related activities to meet the current and future needs of the business.

Your primary objective will be to ensure safe and healthy working conditions, thereby preventing the risk of injury and ill health to workers and other stakeholders. By identifying and eliminating hazards whenever possible, you will guarantee that adequate resources are allocated to protect our people, stakeholders, and the environment.

Overseeing a diverse portfolio of high-end projects in Retail, Leisure, and Hospitality, with values reaching up to £10m. If you are ready to make a significant impact in the construction industry and drive excellence in safety and quality, this role is tailor-made for you.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce documentation inclusive of Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Safe Systems of Work Provide guidance, support and training to the MD and all members of the team
  • Implement and embed policies, procedures & training programs in accordance with HSWA 1974
  • Produce monthly reports detailing current performance for all sites, areas that require improvement and areas that have been improved in the reporting period
  • Liaise with external agencies and regulatory agencies
  • Management of CoSHH control measures
  • Support day to day activities of Project Teams inputting where appropriate to ensure the highest possible standards are achieved
  • Implement manage and maintain the companies ISO management systems
  • Manage the development of safe working processes, policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of the ISO 9001,14001 and 45001 management systems
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent HSE qualification)
  • Experience in a similar position within construction
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and supporting regulations
  • Detailed knowledge of all current H&S laws and legislation
  • Passionate about Health & Safety
  • SMSTS desirable
  • Relevant driving licence
