Finance Assistant

I am pleased to be working with my client who are based in Bootle. They are looking to bring onboard a Finance Asisstant to join the team on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract basis. The contract may well be extended or made permanent dependent on business needs. The company have been growing and it is an exciting time to join!

Full training will be given on systems and processes.

Salary - c£26000 - £29,000 DOE (with ongoing reviews throughout the contract)

Hours - 8am - 4pm (M-F)

Key Responsibilities:

Credit Control:

  • Manage credit control process to ensure timely collection of outstanding payments
  • Monitor and review customer accounts to identify overdue payments and take appropriate action
  • Liaise with customers to resolve payment issues and discrepancies

Chasing Payments:

  • Proactively contact customers via phone, email, and letters to follow up on overdue invoices

Purchase Ledger:

  • Accurately input purchase order invoices into the company's accounting system

Filing:

  • Maintain and organise the filing systems for invoices and proof of delivery paperwork
  • Ensure all documentation is easily accessible and correctly archived

Proof of Delivery (POD) Control:

  • Verify and record proof of delivery documents for all dispatched orders
  • Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to PODs with the transport provider

Payroll Cover:

  • Assist with payroll processing during annual leave
  • Ensure accurate and timely payment for weekly paid staff

Answering Calls:

  • Handle incoming phone calls professionally, directing them to the appropriate departments or individuals
  • Respond to customer inquiries and provide necessary information or assistance

Ad-Hoc Admin Duties:

  • Provide general administrative support to various departments as needed
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the management

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in credit control or a similar role
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficiency in using varied computer software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Desirable:

  • Experience in the manufacturing or steel industry
  • Knowledge of payroll processing and related software
