Description

PURPOSE OF ROLE:
To provide a comprehensive, responsive and flexible first point of contact customer care and advisory service to residents and professionals. Social Care Advisors will provide a screening and referral service across Children's Social Care, sign-posting to other
organisations and referring to specialist care and safeguarding services once need has
been identified.
The work carried out will be completed together with social workers and partner
agencies including the police, schools, health, housing and probation.
Responsible for:
No staff management or budget management responsibility.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Corporate
1. To achieve a high level of performance and effectiveness in the operational
delivery of front-line customer services targeted towards supporting Hounslow's
most vulnerable children and families.
2. To support organisational change and contribute to a culture of continuous
improvement and efficiency, streamlining and automating services where
possible to support Worksmart values and encourage a culture of self-sufficiency
through self-service options.
3. To work collaboratively and pro-actively to develop effective working relationships
with departmental and corporate colleagues to ensure the highest level of
customer service is delivered to Hounslow residents

Main responsibilities

1.1 Provide a welcoming and professional response to the public, staff and partners
both face to face, via email and over the phone.
1.2 Interviewing walk in residents, signposting and carrying out initial screening and
referrals to specialist services across social care, education and Families First
and Intensive Support.
1.3 Gathering and recording clear concise information, asking pertinent questions to
extract the information required to make an accurate and safe judgement.
1.4 Providing information and advice adhering to the GDPR framework, resolving
queries and issues as they arise and returning calls in a timely and efficient
manner.
1.5 Take clear, concise and accurate messages for absent colleagues checking each
call against information on the customer database.
