Reed Accountancy Oxfordshire are excited to once again be partnering with a prestigious organisation in Oxford who are looking for someone to join their finance function as a Payroll Assistant.

Essentially my client are looking for an enthusiastic professional who has a clear understanding of payroll principles and will be able to improve and make suggestions to the current payroll process.

The role will offer hybrid working options upon completion of probationary period and will offer flexibility around start times.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the monthly payroll schedules for salaried and casual staff
  • With assistance from the Head of HR, assist with the preparation of payroll for external payments as authorised by the management and prepare the relevant payroll schedules for accounts to process payment.
  • Collect and process payroll details for joiners, leavers, salary sacrifice arrangements, other individual deductions from salary, holiday payments, changes to terms and conditions of employment and annual salary adjustment figures and update the relevant monthly payroll schedules accordingly.
  • Receive and process monthly input from operational teams for payroll such as overtime hours, casual worker hours, unpaid leave and other adjustments and ensure accurate and timely submission.
  • Completion of all monthly payroll changes adhering to the Accounts deadlines, ensuring that the correct approval processes have been met and checked by the Head of HR.
  • Prepare, check and accurately submit the monthly and four-weekly payroll to accounts resolve any issues regarding incorrect payments

Person specification

  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work, be self-motivated and able to work on own initiative, together with organisation of work performed by other people.
  • Great attention to detail skills
  • Experience working within a HR function or Payroll processing function
  • Strong numeracy skills
