Comm's Project Support Engineer (Nights)

Hours: 20.00-04.00 (nights)

Rate; £350 per shift Umbrella PAYE

Length of contract: 6 months rolling

Introduction

Reed on behalf of Fujitsu is recruiting for a Project Support Engineer to work on the Heathrow Airport Technology Delivery Partner (TDP) Project.

The role will be based at Heathrow Airport 5 Nights a week (typically Monday to Friday).

The candidate will be responsible for assisting in the management and delivery of implementation projects across the campus in the installation of physical infrastructure and active network equipment, internally and externally.

The project is involved in large-scale construction work at the airport and adherence to relevant Health and Safety requirements is paramount.

Core duties:

Management of on-site implementation works.

Ensure the Supervisor and Engineering Team are fully briefed and understand the works and safe working practises.

Adequately and diligently supervise all works under their control.

Assist the SPSE in contractor management of: Fujitsu 3rd party suppliers and Contractors working on Fujitsu PC Sites (not directly engaged by Fujitsu).

Quality assurance - (ensuring installation works are carried out to the correct standard)

Assist the SPSE with writing Risk Assessments and Method statements.

Assist the SPSE in raising permits and liaise with Heathrow stakeholders for relevant permits and approvals.

Collating job packs information for Team briefings.

Identify and highlight both H&S and implementation risks / issues to the Manager in a timely manner.

Undertake operational inspection to ensure safe working practises are being maintained. ¡ Ensure the implementation of daily/nightly pre-start briefing for all operatives, including contractors at the start of each shift.

Actively promote a positive health and safety culture.

Day and night working as required to successfully deliver the project.

Carry out all reasonable duties required for successful delivery of the project.

Undertake survey works and collate information into survey findings documentation.

Complete detailed and comprehensive shift reports Pre works (permits, pre works risk assessment), during works, and post works - this will require use of online tool.

To have and to ensure continued awareness of the critical operational environment at Heathrow

Experience

Has a clear knowledge and experience of delivering on-site IT infrastructure projects within challenging operational environments.

Can demonstrate knowledge of successfully managing a team.

Can demonstrate knowledge of safe working practices.

Aviation or Rail experience preferable. Technical Experience

Cabling and Physical Infrastructure installation.

Preferably has experience of Heathrow and airport equipment, systems, processes, and installation standards.

Preferably has knowledge of network infrastructure, fault finding and use of test equipment. Attributes

Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.

Highly organised with attention to detail.

Has a pro-active and collaborative approach to projects. Teamwork is a key success factor in the Heathrow project.

Computer literate - strong working knowledge of (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) Computer will be supplied.

Qualifications

SMSTS / SSSTS.

CSCS / ECS

Driving licence.

Other required training will be provided.
