The Burford Recruitment Company are thrilled to work with our clients, a land-based educational charity, one of the UK's foremost providers and funders of Outdoor Learning. As leaders in the Learning from the Land sector, their work spans six counties, seven decades, and a growing team of dedicated staff, often working in partnership and collaborating with like-minded organisations across the UK.

The Trust aims to inspire young people to achieve better educational and life outcomes through various Outdoor Learning programmes and activities.

Reporting directly to the Property Director, as the Residential Property Manager, you will oversee the management of the Trust's residential property portfolio with external support where required, consisting of 160 properties across five counties. You will be instrumental in ensuring the success and efficiency of the residential property portfolio through diligent management and strategic oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading on all residential property matters, taking the imitative supporting the Managing Agents in the day-to-day management of their estates
  • Ensuring full compliance of properties with regulatory requirements (eg. EICRs, gas safety, and EPCs etc)
  • Conducting rent reviews to ensure market competitiveness
  • Managing debt collection
  • Scheduling and managing emergency repairs and programmed maintenance, liaising with contractors and ensuring quality standards
  • Achieving annual benchmarked targets
  • Conducting annual property inspections and ensuring contractual requirements are met
  • Maintaining positive tenant relations
  • Liaising with letting agents, drafting and completing tenancy agreements, legal documentation and prescribed information
  • Keeping abreast of any legislative changes that need to be considered in our residential property operations
  • Handling deposit administration, including returns and dispute resolution

Skills & Attributes

  • Previous experience in lettings and property management
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively
  • Negotiation skills and diplomacy in tenant and contractor relations
  • Familiar with residential property legislation, with the ability to adapt to relevant changes
  • Strong administrative and record-keeping abilities
  • Collaborative mindset and team-oriented approach
  • Efficient problem-solving skills in addressing residential queries and issues
  • Full UK driving licence and own vehicle is required
