Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Maths)
Location: West London

Job Overview:

As a Maths Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the Maths department, working closely with teachers to enhance students' learning experience. Your role will involve assisting in the delivery of lessons, providing one-on-one and small group support, and helping students to overcome barriers to learning. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about Maths and education, and who is looking to make a difference in the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Maths teacher in the planning and delivery of lessons.
  • Working with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning objectives and provide targeted support.
  • Assisting students who require additional help in understanding mathematical concepts.
  • Helping to prepare teaching materials and resources for lessons.
  • Providing feedback to the teacher on students' progress and areas of concern.
  • Supporting the development of students' numeracy skills across different abilities.
  • Encouraging a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assisting with classroom management and maintaining a safe, orderly learning environment.
  • Supporting students with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND), ensuring they have equal access to learning.
  • Participating in school activities, such as extracurricular clubs or intervention sessions.
  • Helping to assess and track students' progress and achievement.
  • Performing any other duties as required by the department or senior leadership team.

Person Specification:

  • A strong background in Maths, ideally with a relevant qualification at A-level or higher.
  • Previous experience working with young people, ideally in an educational setting.
  • A genuine passion for Maths and a desire to inspire students to achieve their full potential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting students' learning.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work, with the ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).
  • Knowledge of current educational practices and methodologies in Maths teaching.
