Procurement Officer

Hays are delighted to be working with a large government function to recruit for a Procurement Officer on an 18-month Fixed Term Contract basis. This role will report into the Commercial Business Partner, supporting them in delivering procurement and contract management services across my clients' organisation. The main focus of this role will be to give advice and support the wider team to deliver the best possible service to the local community with the resources available. This would be a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual who is looking to expand their experience in Procurement, while contributing to my clients' mission to serve the local community.

This role is paying up to £30,000 per annum, and the requirement to be office based is 2/3 days per week.

The key responsibilities of this role are:

  • To support procurement, purchasing, and commercial strategies.
  • To comply with and advise managers across the organisation in relation to operational procurement and commercial procedures, managing risk across the teams.
  • To support delivery of a contract management framework for both organisations, to maximise the benefits of the contractual arrangements in place for third party service providers.
  • To support contract management meetings ensuring conformity to framework and mitigating contract risks.
  • To analyse framework agreements and collaboration arrangements detailing benefits and issues in relation to the needs of the organisation.
  • Support the Commercial Services team in the day-to-day operations, and development of a best-in-class service.

In order to be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have experience of operating within a procurement environment, ideally within the public sector, in line with PCR 2015.
  • Have experience advising managers on compliance with procedures.
  • Have had exposure to contract management.
  • Have proven experience of delivering on projects.
  • Demonstrate a track record of providing a high quality, customer-focused service
  • Have the ability to interpret and extrapolate data and present in a clear, well-structured way.
  • Be working towards the Chartered Procurement Qualification (CIPS), although this is desirable as opposed to essential.
