Who are we looking for?

We are currently looking for a new HR Coordinator to join our People & Payroll team at Cambridge Education Group.

The role is on a full-time, permanent basis with the location in Cambridge, United Kingdom. We operate on a hybrid work pattern where 3 days per week can be worked from home.

The HR Coordinator role provides HR administrative and low-level HR advisory support to colleagues across Cambridge Education Group. In this role you are empowered to complete work independently, however you're also part of a collaborative and supportive People Team, that works together to achieve our goals and deliver excellent customer service to the whole organisation.

In this dynamic role, you'll manage a range of responsibilities, from overseeing onboarding processes for new hires and accurately processing HR queries and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Key responsibilities as a People Coordinator:

  • Provide first class HR advice and support to line managers and employees, explaining procedures and policies in an efficient manner
  • Manage standard employee relation issues including maternity, paternity, flexible working requests and absence management
  • Keep track of absences across the organisation, and follow up or escalate with the relevant People Partnering team member as appropriate
  • Support the People Partnering team with complex employee relations cases, such as taking notes in meetings, when required
  • Provide support, advice, guidance and training to line managers and employees in relation to HR policies and procedures
  • Proactively identify areas of the employee Help Centre that need updating and make adjustments as necessary in conjunction with the wider People Team
  • Ensure HR trackers are maintained and kept up to date, prompting People Partnering Team members to update where appropriate to meet statutory legal requirements and complete regular audits to ensure continued compliance
  • Support the People Administrators where needed to ensure a timely and accurate processing of pre-employment checks, Right to Work, DBS and references
  • Ensure all Right to Work details are up to date and meet UKVI regulations
  • Monitor mandatory training completion and contact managers to ensure these are being completed, escalating to the People Partnering Team as necessary
  • Take part in the delivery of training across the business
  • Ensure the maintenance of employee records, ensuring complete accuracy and confidentiality
  • Respond to non-standard queries escalated by the People Administrators and provide step in to Administrative processes as necessary during busy periods or periods of absence

Key skills and experience we will be looking for:

  • Passes at GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
  • CIPD level 3 (or equivalent experience in an HR/People Team)
  • Previous HR Administration experience in a busy HR team
  • Experience providing basic HR advice within an organisation
  • Desirable - Experience of handling maternity/paternity processes, flexible working requests and low level employee relations cases would be advantageous
  • Good IT skills; ability to use Microsoft Office packages including Work, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • High level of attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, in person, by telephone and in email
  • Exceptional time management & organisational skills, has the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
