Position Overview:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Geography Teacher to join our Humanities Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and interactive lessons that inspire curiosity and foster a deep understanding of geographical concepts. As a Geography Teacher, you will play a key role in helping students develop their geographical skills, critical thinking abilities, and appreciation for the world around them.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in Geography to students across key stages 3, 4, and 5, in line with the national curriculum and school policies.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and motivated to succeed.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with varying levels of ability and English proficiency.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to engage students and enhance their understanding of geographical concepts, theories, and case studies.
  • Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback to support their learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the Humanities Department and across other subject areas to promote cross-curricular links and interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, parents' evenings, and school events as required, contributing to the wider life of the school community.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Degree in Geography or a related field, with a strong academic background in the subject.
  • Experience teaching Geography at the secondary level, with a proven track record of student achievement and progress.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and understanding of the national curriculum requirements for Geography.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to engage in ongoing training and learning opportunities.
