Our client is a long-established Engineering Business that design, manufacture and install fabrications into a variety of sectors across the UK.
Due to continued growth and expansion, they are now urgently looking to hire a Procurement Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will also have a strong Engineering background and be able to work independently and efficiently.
The successful candidate must be flexible in the role. It's a small team so they will need to get stuck into responsibilities that wouldn't usually be deemed "procurement"
Responsibilities
- Build and manage a Purchasing, Procurement & Stores function.
- Implement and administer an effective Purchasing/Procurement process (using systems) that will improve the efficiency of the Business.
- Evaluate the current supply base on cost, delivery, quality and risk.
- Review competitive quotes and consider the cost, delivery time and reliability of the supplier, ensuring a sufficient number of quotes have been received.
- Complete an evaluation and standardisation of all supplier contracts to ensure the business achieves best price and have consistency across the supply base.
- Issue Purchase Orders to suppliers and monitor delivery times.
- Review, monitor and evaluate levels of stock required.
- Oversee and manage the goods in/out processes within the organisation.
- Operational and Commercial management of logistics to ensure cost-effective movement of parts to meet production requirements.
- Monitor the expenditure on individual projects and produce reports to Senior Management on budgetary performance.
- Be involved of Cap-ex spending and provide detailed ROI calculations.
In the longer term this will lead to building a team underneath you and increased proportions of work being involved in strategic projects aimed at growing the business.
Experience:
- 3-5 years' minimum experience in a Purchasing/Procurement/Supply Chain management position.
- Experience working in an Engineering environment - being able to read Engineering drawings is a must.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
