HARDWARE ENGINEER - INSIDE IR35 - £60 PER HOUR - UNDERGO SC - STAFFORDSHIRE - 12 MONTHS - GREEN ENERGY BUSINESS

Yolk Recruitment are recruiting for a Hardware Engineer to join our client on an initial 12 month contract working from their site in Staffordshire; the role is hybid working with 2/3 days onsite expected per week.

  • Lead and manage the project team.
  • Review and approve team-developed designs.
  • Ensure team compliance with agreed procedures, methods, and engineering design standards.
  • Interpret and verify customer data, specifications, and drawings.
  • Lead and develop system designs based on customer information.
  • Oversee the creation and modification of Design Packs, including system drawings, general arrangements, schematics, wiring diagrams, and site cable drawings.
  • Produce client design documentation and test documentation.
  • Generate all necessary documentation to support system production, such as Functional Design Specifications (FDS), test documentation, and manuals.
  • Lead site surveys and assist in preparing Health and Safety documentation.
  • Support site acceptance testing and commissioning.
  • Assist in the production of tender documents and cost estimates.

Essential Skills

  • Experience and proficiency in control systems within the energy market or similar utilities.
  • Competence in field cabling systems (Power, Instrumentation, Control, and Communications), including surveying, identifying routes, and performing cable calculations for sizing and earthing/protection.
  • Competence in control panel design incorporating PLC, I/O, communication cards, and UPS systems.
  • Educated to at least a degree level in a relevant subject, or an HND with at least five years of post-graduate experience or six years post-HND experience in successful project implementation in the relevant areas.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, AutoCAD, and Excel.
  • Methodical in interpreting customer requirements and delivering project documentation.
  • Understanding of the full project lifecycle.
  • Possession of a current full UK driving license (or ability to convert to a full UK license).
  • Willingness to undergo a basic disclosure check in Scotland.

Desirable Skills

Preference will be given to candidates with the following:

  • Experience with at least one of the following:

  • Rockwell (Control Logix)

  • Siemens (PC7S, TIA Portal)

  • Schneider (M580, M340)

  • Site installation and commissioning experience of control systems.

  • Experience with Motor Control Centres (specification, procurement, installation).

  • Good understanding of BS7671 IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.

  • Awareness and understanding of DSEAR regulations and hazardous area applications.

  • Awareness and understanding of Functional Safety (IEC 61508/61511).

  • Ability to work to deadlines and within budgets.

  • Familiarity with databases.
