Payroll Assistant 12 month FTC

Our client is seeking a meticulous and dependable Payroll Assistant to join their team in Preston on a 12 month contract. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide comprehensive start-to-finish payroll processing services, while maintaining the utmost confidentiality. The role also has the capacity to turn permanent upon successful completion of the interim period.

What you'll do:

As a Payroll Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing. Your responsibilities will include everything from collating information and processing it through the payroll system, to producing reports and maintaining spreadsheets. You'll also handle starter/leaver calculations, produce pension calculations, respond to payroll queries, and submit monthly RTI FPS & EPS to HMRC. Your attention to detail will be key in manually checking statutory calculations and adjusting payments as needed.

  • Responsible for the monthly processing of start-to-finish payroll
  • Manually checking statutory calculations and adjusting payments if required
  • Processing tax code changes and running absence/sickness reports
  • Producing pension calculations and applying figures to payroll system
  • Responding to payroll queries from colleagues, managers & external third parties
  • Submitting monthly RTI FPS & EPS to HMRC
  • Maintaining P11d forms and submitting annually to HMRC

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Payroll Assistant position will bring proven work experience in a similar role, along with a strong numerical aptitude. You'll have excellent communication skills, good time management abilities, and up-to-date knowledge of PAYE & pension auto-enrolment. Your good computer skills & excel knowledge will be essential in this role, as well as your respect for confidential information.
