Mechanical Estimator

As a Mechanical Estimator you will be based in the head offices in Northampton, the individual will oversee and coordinate prime cost production for all mechanical tenders, ensuring competitive and accurate costing. The role involves preparing budgets, evaluating supply chain quotations, and implementing supply chain engagement strategies. The Mechanical Estimator will also be responsible for developing win strategies, managing tender submission documents, and liaising with commercial departments to review proposed terms and conditions. Collaboration with electrical and builderwork teams will be necessary to ensure project integration.

Job Description:

The Mechanical Estimator will support the delivery of the business vision, goals, and strategy, specifically focusing on mechanical projects. This role requires a professional approach to tender delivery, accurate prime cost production, and the implementation of effective win strategies. The successful candidate will contribute to achieving the target win ratio and maintain high standards of bid delivery across the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate prime cost production on all mechanical tenders.
  • Prepare budgets, issue and evaluate supply chain quotations.
  • Identify responsibilities for design input and ensure required audits and assessments are undertaken.
  • Develop and implement win strategies for each mechanical tender.
  • Manage the formulation, drafting, and editing of tender submission documents and presentation material.
  • Organise, attend, and chair internal/external meetings and events.
  • Liaise with the commercial department to review and comment on proposed terms and conditions.
  • Prepare Tender Handover documentation and lead the presentation of the accepted tender.
  • Support business development by identifying suitable opportunities.
  • Collaborate with electrical and builderwork teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Develop relationships with clients, project managers, consultants, and main contractors.

Experience & Skills Required:

  • A solid understanding of building services, with a focus on mechanical services.
  • HND level in Building Services will be beneficial or equivalent experience
  • Ability to lead and be a good team player.
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills.
  • Experience across these computer software's will be extremely beneficial: Word; Excel; PowerPoint; and Asta PowerProject
