SF Recruitment are currently working with a fledgling manufacturing business based in Tamworth to recruit a production planner.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Production Planner to manage all production planning and scheduling requirements within the business. This is a sole responsibility role, meaning you will be the key person responsible for ensuring that production schedules are well-coordinated, meet business demands, and are executed efficiently. You will also be expected to utilize your expertise to continually assess and improve planning procedures, driving efficiencies and ensuring smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Planning: Develop, implement, and maintain detailed production schedules based on customer orders, stock levels, and production capacity to meet delivery targets and business goals.

Capacity Management: Monitor production capacity and resource availability, adjusting schedules as necessary to balance workloads and meet business demands.

Inventory Control: Collaborate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure materials and components are available to meet production schedules, minimizing stock shortages or overages.

Process Improvement: Review and enhance current production planning and scheduling processes to optimize efficiency, reduce waste, and improve output consistency.

Communication: Act as the key point of contact between production, procurement, and sales teams, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed of production timelines, any delays, and potential impacts on delivery.

Data Analysis: Use data-driven insights to forecast production needs and ensure that the business is well-prepared for upcoming projects or seasonal fluctuations.

Problem-Solving: Identify and troubleshoot potential issues in production scheduling, working proactively to prevent bottlenecks, downtime, and resource shortages.

Compliance: Ensure all production planning and scheduling activities comply with company policies, health & safety standards, and industry regulations.

Skills & Qualifications:

Proven experience in production planning, scheduling, or a similar role, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Strong understanding of production processes, capacity planning, and resource management.

Proficiency in production planning software (e.g., SAP, ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills.

Excellent problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to anticipate and resolve scheduling conflicts or delays.

Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and departments.

Ability to work independently and take ownership of planning processes.
