Buying Assistant - About The Role

The successful Buying Assistant will be working closely with the current Buying team on all aspects of the buying process, as well as providing support on all aspects of driving stock availability and helping to ensure that the company has the best products at the right time and at the correct price. The ideal candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly establish rapport and build trust with suppliers. We are looking for a confident communicator with the ability to multi-task as well as be proactive with a flexible approach to changing demands and priorities.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Ordering product from suppliers
  • Maintain supplier relationships globally
  • Attend Trade shows/supplier visits as necessary
  • Work with QA specialist on product compliance and relevant safety standards
  • Review product stock holdings and turn rate
  • Working alongside the buyers to restock larger accounts
  • Create weekly reports and prepare department data
  • Prepare and review product pricing (domestic and international)
  • Work with other departments and coordinate multiple aspects in the running of the business
  • Respond to changing priorities and achieve tasks quickly and efficiently

The successful Buying Assistant will have/be:

  • A self-starter with the tenacity and drive to deliver results
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of numeracy
  • Strong Excel skills and competent in other MS Office applications
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport and build trust
  • Ability to multi-task and be adaptable to changing demands/priorities
  • Resilient and determined
  • Positive and enthusiastic with a passion to learn
  • Ideally a knowledge of the industry or an interest and passion for the Toys, Games and Entertainment industry
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, working with a range of different people and departments
